Almost famous
Almost famous follows 15-year-old William Miller on his dream of becoming a rock journalist, influenced by his sister’s secret stash of rock albums, he starts off writing for underground magazines until a big shot music journalist notices him and asks him to write a review on Black Sabbath. William gets sucked into the world of sex, drugs and rock n roll.
Rocket Man
Rocket man is a film looking at one of rocks all-time greats, Sir Elton John. This film smashed everyone’s perception through Taron Egerton's portrayal of the eccentric star. Egerton performed all the vocals for hits such as ‘Crocodile Rock’ and ‘I’m still standing’ without any dubbing or voice overs. The film also tells the story of Bernie Taupin, the mind behind the lyrics for almost all of Elton John’s hit songs.
Bohemian Rhapsody
‘Rami Malek’ takes on the mammoth task of portraying one of the most iconic rock stars of our lifetime, Freddy Mercury. This film centers around the Queen front man as he as he struggles with being a flamboyant gay man fronting one if the biggest rock bands in the world.
Detroit Rock City
Detroit Rock City follows four friends in 1978 who are desperate to see KISS play in Detroit after one of the members’ overly religious mothers end up burning their KISS tickets. The film follows the group as they manage to win tickets on a local Detroit radio station, but find out to their surprise, that they never left their details to collect the tickets and they were given to the next caller.
School of Rock
Jack Black plays the part of Dewey Finn a down and our rocker who gets kicked out of his band and in order to make ends meet, he lies his way into a substitute teaching position only to discover that his preppy students all have insane musical talents.
Tommy
Tommy is the story about young boy who is rendered deaf, dumb, and blind. The film follows his mother and her boyfriend’s failed attempts to cure Tommy until he becomes a national celebrity for his exceptional pinball skills. The film does take a dark turn when his thankless followers murder his parents forcing Tommy flees into the mountains.
Tenacious D in The Pick of Destiny
You will not find another movie with more rock energy oozing from it than the pick of Destiny. Jack Black is back teaming up with band mate Kyle Gass and the 2 go in search of the legendary guitar pick forged from the Devils tooth which is said to contain the very essence of Rock and has helped every famous guitarist achieve god like status.
Wayne’s World
Wayne and Garth share their views on hot babes and rock music on their late-night cable show transmitted from their basement, until a wily producer (Rob Lowe) wants to catapult them into mainstream TV. The movie is inspired by "Saturday Night Live's" long-running parody of local access cable television.
The Dirt
'The Dirt’ explores the formation of one of the world’s most notorious rock bands from their diner beginnings to playing sold out stadium shows. Get into the minds of Vince, Tommy, Mick, and Nikki as they rock their way through mounds of drug induced debauchery through to each member fighting personal struggles.
Rock Star
Mark Wahlberg portrays Chris ''Izzy'' Coles, a copy machine repairman who fronts a local tribute band and insist his bandmates only cover songs from his idols, Steel Dragon. His persistence ends up getting him kicked out of the band.
As luck would have it Steel Dragon are also struggling with their self-inhibited lead singer and decide to kick him out. In the search for a new vocalist the band come across Izzy’s cover band and end up hiring him as the replacement.
Empire records
Empire records centers on a group of misfit youths working in a record store. The plot follows the group as they realise that their store is being sold to a soulless corporate company. After one of the group end up gambling away their money in Atlantic city, the group decide to put on a raging street party to raise the funds to save the store.
This Is Spinal Tap
Everybody knows somebody who knows somebody who saw Spinal Tap for the first time and thought it was real. It’s a believable urban legend. Reiner’s brilliant “rockumentary” sends up its subject matter and the documentary form, with such deft perception that confusing it with the genuine article is an easy mistake to make. https://www.empireonline.com/
