NEWS: Dio's autobiography has an official release date

After what seems like an eternity we finally have an official release date for the long awaited autobiography of one of metals founding fathers, Ronnie James Dio.

Ronnie James Dio's is undisputedly one of the founding fathers of heavy metal, having fronted behemoth bands such as Rainbow, and replacing Ozzy Osbourne in Black Sabbath to eventually forming his own, self-titled band, Dio in 1982.


"Rainbow In The Dark: The Autobiography", has been co-written by music journalist Mick Wall, who is no Stanger to music journalism, having written biographies for some of rocks biggest names, from Axl Rose to Lemmy. Dio started working on the project prior to his death in 2010 and will tell the story of how he became the legend he ultimately aspired to be. The book will take you on a journey from his how town in upstate New York to performing in sold out Arena’s around the world and ultimately the biggest stage of them all… Madison Square Garden.


The book will guide readers into the mind of a rock legend from humble beginnings as a crooner in the 1950’s band the ‘Vegas Kings, to collaborating with Ritchie Blackmore (Deep Purple) and the formation of Rainbow to the origin of the “devil horns” symbol religiously displayed at every rock concert, and the drugs in between.


After his passing in 2010 from a battle with stomach cancer, long time friend, Mick Wall, picked up the pen to complete the late legends writings, Ronnie James Dio is regarded as on of the most influential rock artist of our time and has earned his place next to greats in the lap of the gods.

The book has a scheduled release date of July 27th by Permuted Press.
